Improvements to WordPress Security for our Hosting Clients

You may be aware that in recent times there have been an increased number of attacks from hackers on WordPress websites.

We are constantly striving to combat this and have been tightening up security on our server. We have now introduced an additional step to the WordPress login process for all our hosting clients.

What’s going to happen?

Next time you log in to your WordPress site, you will be presented with the a screen similar to the one below:

 Website security captcha

This places an extra security check between your site and anyone trying to gain access to it, and will help to prevent automated attacks.

What do I have to do?

Next time you want to log in:

  1. Go to your usual WordPress login page: www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin (replace ‘yourdomain.com’ with your website address)
  2. You’ll see the ‘are you human page’ shown above. Enter the words shown into the text box and click on ‘continue’ – this will take you to your WordPress login page where you can log in normally. Your login details have not changed.

You may also find that you are prompted for a username and password not previously required (in addition to your usual login details).

You’ll find the credentials for this login provided with the hosting details in your welcome email.

We hope that this change will help to ensure the security of your site and all others on our servers.

If you have any questions or problems logging into your site please don’t hesitate to contact us for support.
