It’s that time of year again – Zoey is about to dive headfirst into the Christmas spirit, one festive jumper at a time. And guess what? She’s doing it for the third year running! So, if you thought last year’s 25-day jumper marathon was impressive, buckle up, because Zoey’s going full throttle again.
Now, before you start imagining an endless parade of gaudy, glittery, and downright bizarre sweaters (and yes, there will be plenty of those), let’s take a minute to talk about why Zoey started this unusual festive tradition in the first place, and why she’s so committed to it once again this year.
Why Christmas Jumpers?
If you were following Zoey’s social media last December, you’ll know that there’s more to this whole ‘Christmas jumper challenge’ than meets the eye. It may just seem like a fun way to embrace the holiday spirit, but it’s about something far bigger: it’s in honour of Zoey’s lovely mum, Christine.
Christine Hoskins sadly passed away in November 2022. Zoey donned a festive knit just weeks later, on 7th December, to bring her a bit of joy during a difficult time. Of course, once she started, she couldn’t stop… for 19 days! It became her way of handling her grief, embracing the season, spreading a little love and happiness, and even connecting with people, as old friends and familiar faces reached out. For Zoey, it became a symbol of resilience and the power of community.
So when the 2023 festive season rolled around, there was no question that the jumpers were making a comeback. Last year, not only did Zoey wear a seasonal sweater for 25 days straight, she also posted 25 selfies showing off her tinsel-covered tops. This year, she’s doing it all over again – but with more energy, enthusiasm, and even wilder jumpers (yep, she’s got some crazy ones lined up!).
The Cause: Dementia UK
There’s another layer to this festive jumper extravaganza: giving back. Zoey is not just spreading Christmas cheer; she’s also raising much-needed funds for Dementia UK. Dementia UK is a charity that provides life-changing care for families affected by dementia. It helps them navigate the challenges of care, and provides both practical and emotional support when it’s needed most.
Last year, Zoey’s incredible Christmas Jumper Fest raised over £1,000 online for this amazing cause, and she’s hoping to smash that goal in 2024. Every donation goes a long way towards supporting families who are dealing with the complexities of dementia, making a huge difference in their lives.
