Introducing Lex International
Lex International is a non-profit legal organisation with a big goal: to develop creative solutions to global problems using international law. They work with civil society organisations, governments, international bodies, scientists, and media outlets to find innovative, bold solutions to global challenges.
Beatrice Fihn was previously the Executive Director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). Under her leadership, the organisation was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017.
Lex International’s work is high-impact, and they needed a website to match.
The brief: Lex International were looking for a simple, extendable website. It had to be clear and concise, and needed to communicate its message effectively. They wanted a professional and modern look without things feeling too corporate.
Luckily, the team at Soto had them covered.
Project wins
We created their website from the ground up, building the core structure with our full suite of coding techniques and programming languages. This enabled us to find creative solutions – and achieve some exciting wins!
We tasked ourselves with getting the site as small and fast-loading as possible to facilitate easy browsing and seamless user experience.
Doing this also enabled us to achieve a grade B carbon rating. Their low-carbon website is now cleaner than 79% of tested sites. This type of sustainable web design puts people and the planet first, resulting in less energy usage and lower emissions.
We referred Lex International to our design partners who further brought their vision to life. The client loved websites with animation touches, and these elements were integrated into the site header and smaller sections throughout.
We used simple, lightweight tools to integrate animation, including JSON (which is light and loads quickly) and CSS (another lightweight tool for the smaller page animations.)
Simple design and sustainability helped us achieve a clean, user-friendly website. This allowed us to seamlessly showcase Lex International’s core aims. Namely: fostering communication, empowering communities to drive change, and bringing diverse sectors together.
